  • What is a birth trauma?

Traumatic experiences during pregnancy, birth and postpartum in which women were not able to follow their instinct have an enormous impact on women’s lives. When thinking about it still causes negative feelings and when women experience discomfort in daily life, this is considered a birth trauma. Symptoms of a birth trauma are feeling dissociated, not attached to your baby or your environment, low self- esteem, slow recovery after birth and physical complaints.

  • Why do I need to prepare myself mentally for birth?

Mental preparation is extremely important. Just letting birth happen to you is one of the biggest risks for a birth trauma. A mentally strong, emotionally capable and confident woman knows what she needs for a positive and healthy birth experience.

  • How is your pregnancy course different?

My course completely focusses on emotional preparation. My support also continues after birth, whereas many pregnancy courses do not. Within a month after birth, we discuss your birth experience in our 5th session. Even after a positive birth experience, this is very important as I am trained to notice symptoms of possible traumatic experiences.

  • Why is birth trauma prevention so important?

Birth trauma prevention is important, because a healthy and positive birth experience gives a mother and her baby a boost, which promotes long-term health.

  • Can I recover from a birth trauma I suffered a few years ago?

Yes, you can recover from a birth trauma. I offer a trauma recovery trajectory, which has a friendly and effective approach. During the first session (the Recovery Interview), you connect in a soft, non-invasive way to what happened to you. After that, you take the time to visualize and imagine how you would have wished it to have happened (your natural mother program is allowed to run). During this visualization, I will encourage you to sink more into your body, to experience where you would like to go. This will make you experience your birth in the way you would have wanted it and your natural mother program (programmed in your mother brain) may run. This has a healing effect. More than 90% of women who had one or two Recovery Interviews, recovered from birth trauma.

  • I experienced miscarriage and/ or loss from a baby can I also benefit from birth trauma recovery?

When a mother has a disturbing/negative/traumatic and/or an experience of (child) loss around birth, she is functioning in her emotional brain, her limbic system. These experiences (memories) are stored there. The environment has an important part in dealing with these experiences or losses. After a miscarriage or child loss, you can experience the same symptoms as women have after a birth trauma. Feeling dissociated, not attached to yourself or your environment, low self- esteem, slow recovery and physical complaints. Therefore, a Recovery Trajectory can be very helpful.
